Hello. I was reading this article in the New York Times, and I came across some quite scary facts. Wanna hear them? Yes you do.
• 1/5 of America still thinks that the sun rotates around the Earth
• half of America does not know that humans did not live at the same time as dinosaurs
• 13% of America does not know what a molecule is
This was an article on intelligent design, explaining that the reason why so many people are doubting evolution is because they are not well-learned on the matter. Clearly, he was right. Isn't that scary? EEK.
On a lighter note, it's supposed to snow four inches on Friday!!! Yay! I could have a snowball fight during my frees, perhaps. What a joy.
Ooh, and we don't have photo tomorrow. But yechhh, we have a study hall. Oh vell.
Happy Starting-To-Be-the-Holidays! Yay.
Oh yes, I almost forgot! There's this really funny transcript of a show on NPR where Judith Miller was interviewed. Judith Miller was a woman who reported the identity of a secret agent in the New York Times that was told to her by Scooter Libby. She went to jail because she refused to reveal her source...revealing the identity of a secret agent is illegal. READ IT, because it's funny how the guy on the radio really slams her. FABULOUS, rahlly.
Please ignore the entry below. :-) Thanks to Deborah's diligent research, it has been discovered that this website was simply a joke, and that the poor kittens were simply photoshopped into bottles. It's STILL a stupid idea, but at least the kittens are safe. I hope they don't grow up. I hate cats. Pshhhh.
I CAN'T BELIEVE THANKSGIVING BREAK'S OVER! Wot a pi'y. Good bye then.
Allison's coming to school tomorrow! Well-for a half day. She's going to come at lunch at stay for seventh period, which is Advising. Should be quite fun. SO COME to the lobby at 1:00. Indeed.
I never update anymore. And neither do any of you. Except for Melissa. UGH. :-P And Deborah, I'm especially disappointed in you--you--you, trendsetter, you. This was your idea and you should STAY TRUE TO IT. Hmph.
Here are some lovely New Yorker cartoons that I quite like:
(aren't my No. 1 and 2 beeee-auteous? yes they are)

Woohoo! I personally invite all of you to come see it with me (and my family and other people). Yes yes yes. I'm very excited. It'll be FABULLLLLLLLLLLOUS. And don't you dare say otherwise.
And don't comment saying OTHERWISE either. :-)
Ho hum. Have a lovely weekend. I didn't much enjoy the weeding in the park. But I liked the relay races. And I'm going to Staples tomorrow! Yay. ANYWAY, have a lovely Sunday.
Ah, orientation. It was actually pretty fun, despite my not getting Mr. Swarthout as an advisor. Mr. Wilmot (WILL, heeheeheehee) is a good runner up. :-) Here's my schedule, since I have nothing better to do:
Eet ees wonderfuul, ees eet not? TELL ME IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING THE SAME AS ME. Thank you. Yes, yes. After orientation, I went home with Absy, Deah, and Wheeze and we checked our Latin packets. How superb. Then the two As abandoned me and Deborah for others, and we made pasta. And ate it. Then we picked up a pizza and went to Molly's house. Events included: my pledging my marriage to the television set (or chair), me being thrown onto the table which held "Loaded Questions" (HEM HEM), and the As disappearing again while me and Deborah ran around upstairs calling "ALIZAAAAAAAAAAA....ABIGAILLLLLLLLLLLLLL....." Then we left a message. AND THEN I walked home with what started out as Polly and Aliza, turned into Polly, Kelsey, and Aliza, and ended up with Aliza. :-) And now -- TO THE STATIONERY STORE WITH MY SISTER! Yay.
Goodbye! See you in school tomorrow...8 AM SHARP, BUSTER. (That means you, medal-winner ... and -loser) EHEHEHE. :-)
OOOH! And I got Ms. Drezner!!! (didn't everybody?)
|Subject:||Dum Da Dum...|
TODAY IS ORIENTATION! Yikes. See you there!
I hope I get Mr. Swarthout. Please-y, please-y, please-y...Oh dear. That probably jinxed it.
Joe's. 12:30. Come.
Thank YOU. See you there. (Today. Friday. September. 2.)
Ducks and Fishies
Say A Poem
Have A Snore
Our school supplies trip was quite fun. First we (me, Molly, Deah) went to the stationery store on Flatbush. I think the Cher-woman has left, because the past few times she's been replaced by...someone else. There, I was extremely uneconomic and bought a stunningly marvelous blue "BRIGHTS" composition notebook. It is to die for. THEN, we went to Deah's house, where her mother kindly drove us all to Staples! (YIPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!) What we bought there was:
• 2 scissors (I, being the wonderful person I am, gave one to Molly)
• 1 beautiful green ruler (I am now remembering that I have a big blue metallic one -- oops)
• 4 glue sticks (eh)
• 10 "stick gels" for ONLY 50¢ (what a deal, eh?!)
• 3 smashingly pink erasers
• 4 uni-ball roller GRIP pens (sa-marshing)
• 12 pencil cap erasers (MULTICOLORED!)
• 1 pencil sharpener (red)
• 12 pencils
• 24 blue pens, 24 black pens
THE END. Isn't that a wonderful list of school supplies? You should all follow my lead. And Deah bought a notebook for Aliiiiiiiza. And yet hers was cheaper than mine. No wonder I spent the most of all of us. Oh d-d-dear dear dear.
Goodbye. I'll see you all on Tuesday. If not before. ALIZA AND DEAH (AND ABSY IF YOU WOULD CARE), bring your Latin notes, please. How do you say please in Latin?
Ita vero. Salve.
Hello there, Pigeons and Ducks.
After a long, fun-filled conversation, my dear Kelsey and I have come up with the brilliant and oh very original idea of...
dum da-da dum da-da doo doo dee dum da-da dum...
LUNCH. TOMORROW. (OR TODAY, TUESDAY, WHICH IS WHEN YOU WILL BE READING THIS, PROBABLY. 12:00 UNTIL 1:00. BE THERE. OR TURN INTO A PLUM.
Yes, this means you. I will call SOME people who don't always check LJ. If I don't call you, it is not personal. It is just that you have not been at one of the past Joe's meetings. And therefore...I didn't know if you would...oh gobbledeegook. If I don't call you, don't start a war against me. That's all I ask. Ho hum.
Well then. SEE YOU TOMORROW! (Hopefully I can make it. Yes, that would be good.) Ta ta.
I'm back! Fire Island was quite a bit o' fun. I played Clue a lot. I like Clue.
Now I have to read Galileo quick quick quick because (oh dear) school is STARTING soon! The advantage to that is that I get to get school supplies. And, to my fellow school supply lovers -- we have to a) come up with a complete and wonderful plan that is absolutely finalized and b) go to Staples and the stationery store. Yippee.
About Galileo -- I'm not sure who else has the same copy as me (I know Molly does) -- but mine is published by ARCADE and has a black and white picture on the front. Anyway, my copy has the play and then lots of pages about the "Texts by Brecht." Do we have to read that? The actual play is only about 113 pages. PLEASE TELL ME QUICKLY. Thank you very much.
Also, would anybody care to see a movie with me soon-ish? Yes, yes. Of course. Okey dokey.
This was an odd entry.
Hello there! As promised, I am Madame Fluffy McPort. Pleased to meet you.
The party today was fun, fun, fun. I'm allowed to write that, obviously, because EVERYONE'S INVITED! Yay. :-)
Anyway, click here for the Deer Run pictures (I know it's a little late...)!
I'm going to Fire Island until next Thursday, but call me or email me or comment me or serenade me when I get back, please. See you then!
-- Mme. Fluffy McPort
WAHHHHHHH!!!! I write this entry as Rebecca...
...my next entry will be posted as Madame Fluffy McPort. I am LEAVING for camp tomorrow! What a frightening thought. Actually, everyone else is leaving tomorrow too. What a shame that I'm the only one who has to get up at 5 bleeding A.M. to catch the bus at Lincoln Center. Arrr.
Today, I actually encountered TWO (2) people that are leaving for camp tomorrow: Aliza (semi-planned) and Molly (UNCHARTED!). Aliza kindly gave me the Latin packet which she even more kindly xeroxed for me, while I met Molly while searching for the very same book - the English reading! What a shock. I'll have to get it at Barnes&Noble, as Community Bookstore finally came to the conclusion that they didn't have it.
I am completely DONE packing except for some toiletries and my water bottles. Oh! I have to finish writing out my address book. My beaaaaautiful address book. And you will be pleased to know that I have beautiful speckled (or polka-dotted, if you prefer) stationery which will enable me to reply to the torrents of letters I will surely be receiving after I saw daringly posted my address on this site. RIGHT?!??!?! Well then.
You better better better write me. Here is my address for the fifty quadruplith time.
Tonight I'm going to see Bewitched! Yipsterbee. How oh so very lucky for me to see it right before camp. I'm starting to get a little sad/nervous. Sad because I will miss several people including my mom and dad. And nervous because if I have no friends I most likely won't get the peach juice out of this experience. Oh dear.
The highlights are that I get to have a whole package of biscottis AND Fig Newtons to myself on the busride. If I find a friend I just might share...MAYBE.
Goodbye! I will miss you dearly, unless you fail to write. If you are already at camp, I'm not talking to you because you're not reading this. If you're going to camp tomorrow (or your camp is starting tomorrow but you left today, ALIZA!), have fun and write me! If you're not going away atall, have fun in BROOKLYN and write me!
Aguieee. Ok, this is really and truly the end.
P.S. I got Sims 2 finally. :-)
P.P.S. I downloaded "Seasons of Love", finally. Yipsterbee. I love that song.
BYE (for SIX WEEKS - with a 24-hour break after 4!!!)
The suitcases are DOWNSTAIRS...:-O
|Subject:||Camp. Is. Over.|
As you can see from Mr. Star Guy, I feel pensive. Such a word splendidam.
So, some of the results of my mood...
If the more things stay the same, the more they change, if things change, do they stay the same?
Hmm. I am looking at one of my favorite cartoons on my New Yorker calendar:
Caption: "He must have forgotten something."
Camp today and the rest of the week was pretty good. Next year (!!!???) we should make more and longer activities, however. The only bad part of today was when Will's babysitter who turned out to be DAVID MENCHINI came 15 minutes late and he (or Will's mom) failed to pay us $25. Grrrrrr. Oh and...to make you all JEALOUS...we each got $231! Yipsterbee.
Tomorrow, I have to go to the doctor. Then, I have to go to a dumb party in Connecticut. Hopefully I will have an hour to call Absyyyy as she is leaving on Sunday. If not:
BYE ABS! Have [no] FUN [at all] AT CAMP!!! Pah. Write me EVERY SINGLE DAY. Or, as Tina would say: everysingleday. :P
Goodbye, then. I have to go out to dinner with my grandmother.
So much for my pensive mood. I WAS pensive before, though. I swear.
In fact, I'm the teensy tiniest bit sad that camp is over. Teensy tiny bit. I will miss some of the kids. Will hugged me. :-)
|Mood:|| all saaaad again|
Boohoohoo. Last night was our party and it was bungaloos of fun. Allison and I copied the dance moves from the movie whilst trying to get Thea (and Molly and Kelthey) to dance. We dragged Deborah inside a couple times but she was like rubber. At 9:30, Deborah had to leave and we had a non-tearful goodbye. But, before that, we said goodbye to Ms. Durham gatrillions of times and stuck little flowers on her head. Then we sneaked over to Mr. Jameson and stuck an enormous leaf on his head. Unfortunately, he noticed. But not before we added a sombrero (my new favorite word) and took a picture. Teeheehee.
At the end, EVERYBODY (except me and Melissa) was crying. I was crying inside. Really, I was quite sad, but I couldn't bring liquid to my eyes. I blew kisses at people as I was carted away by the men in white coats. Dahahahhaa.
Now I'm very nervous because I have a rehearsal for my CONCERT tomorrow in which, if I mess up, the group will a) also mess up and b) kill me. The only good part is that there are "party favors" with chocolate in them.
Now, I'm tired. I'm off to take a shower! I just sneezed 10 times. What excitement.
Hello. Today was sad/happy. Happy because it's the LAST DAY OF SCHOOL but sad because next year everything's going to be really different. I'm going to miss Al, Fran, Brook, and whoever else is leaving a lot. I'm kind of worried...I don't want our grade to change for the worse. And this year was so much fun, what with harrassing Mr. Jameson, making fun of Mr. Missonis' grammar, and dancing in front of the faculty room. Next year we won't even have our regular Latin class! Sob sob.
Well, you can count on me to cry tomorrow. To Al (and Fran and Brook): Next year, we have to READ EACH OTHER'S LIVEJOURNALS, COMMENT ON THEM, and have bajillions of sleepovers/playdates. Teehee, playdates.
I'm already sad. But I'm swearing to myself that I won't lose touch.
There, I swore. Ya happy?!?!? See you tomorrow...........boohooobhooo.
P.S. You are all welcome to see Mr. and Mrs. Smith with Kelsey, Allison, Melissa, and I tomorrow. Unless, of course I don't like you. Which is possible. :-P
Hey! I'm on Mozilla and I can't change my italics or bold or aaaaaanything. Actually, wait. I can.
Does this work? Why yes it does! It's supposed to rain FOUR OUT OF THE FIVE DAYS OF CAMP. But hopefully the weather will be wrong. Oh God help me. Molly, Absy, and Deborah, I will kill you if you comment saying "Yippee." Really. I'm bringing a knife to school tomorrow. Eheheeh.
I'll update about our anti-trip day tomorrow. All I can say now is: it was fun. Except I'm semi-wishing that I had gone to Six Flags. Only kinda...Apparently that was fun too, say Absy and Molly and Melissa (and Polly) whom I saw meandering home after "school" (teehee, meandering).
Au revoir. I'll update tomorrow.
1 more ACTUAL DAY OF SCHOOL! YIPPEE! IPPEE! PPEE! PEE! [immature laugh :P] EE! E! !
